Man On A Ledge

Just reading the title of this film makes me giggle, I wonder what its about? This film reminds me a little of snakes on a plane. A bit pointless? Sam Worthington a wrongly convicted ex-cop is out to get his revenge on the people who did him over! His brother Jamie Bell and his girlfriend Genesis Rodriguez plan to steal a diamond from Ed Harris the bad buy, whilst Mr Worthington hangs of a ledge acquiring everyone's attention. As you can tell the story is hard to follow!

This kind of film just reminds me of stereotypes New York's finest stating the obvious and being totally useless! We do, however, get the pleasure of a twist at the end. The film is nothing spectacular but not terrible!

The Devil Inside

Well I was really looking forward to this, the trailer looked promising, there was a bit of hype and controversy, however, it quickly turned out to be the worst films I have ever seen! Completely suspense free, without any sort of real horror in it! For me now it is in the worsening genre of hand held found footage.

The story is pretty much predictable and pretty much identical to almost every exorcism film, a young girl has some sort of demon in here we watch her eat some flies and bend her bones around and then laugh in a deep psychotic voice

This was undoubtedly one of the worst films I have ever seen and most definitely the worst ever horror film I have seen! It does not get my stamp of approval!

My Rating: 4/10

Directors: William Brent Bell    Cast: Evan Helmuth, Fernanda Andrada, Fernanda Andrade, Ionut Grama, Simon Quarterman, Suzan Crowley

The Woman In Black

Is the name of Harry Potter carrying Daniel Radcliffe? In this adaptation of Susan Hill's supernatural thriller Radcliffe seemed blank with no emotion, in a film which sent shivers down my spine and had me clutching onto the arm rest.

The plot suits a perfect ghost story, an old dusty mansion cut off from the world, an innocent lawyer, terrorised village folk, and a haunting woman in black! James Watkins engaging direction style has you watching through your fingertips throughout the film as the turn of every corridor has you jumping on the edge of your seat. For me though Radcliffe hasn't done his acting career any favours, it felt like he was on a first date trying too hard to impress.

My Rating: 7/10 (Daniel Radcliffe's acting doesn't influence the rating)

Directors: James Watkins    Cast: Ciaran Hinds, Daniel Radcliffe, Janet McTeer, Roger Allam, Shaun Dooley, Sophie Stuckey

Act Of Valour

What makes this film something a bit different for me, is the incredible gimmick behind the film. All the actors are current Navy Seals! That truthfully is about the best bit of the film though. The action sequences and techniques used remind me of COD and they are pretty cool, but the film really lacks much of a story line!

The first bit of action involves the Seals quietly and efficiently slaying a load of baddies and getting back the girl which is a good scene but that's it. There is no dialogue with meaning and we don't really find out anything about the characters. The main bad guy reminds me of a bond villain which I thought was a bit out of place considering we were watching ruggedly trained Seals! He barely makes much of an appearance anyway and doesn't have any sort of charisma. The final scene was the only bit with a bit of drama, the soon to be father sacrifices himself to save his men which I did think was a good ending.

Apparently Top Gun had young men attempting to join the military, I doubt this will have the same sort of affect!

My Rating: 6/10

Directors: Mike McCoy, Scott Waugh    Cast: Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle, Nestor Serrano, Roselyn Sanchez
