2016 has been a hit for films. Comic books seem to have taken over the world, with Captain America 3: Civil War and Batman Vs Superman both being released this year. The two have become billion dollar franchises. There is no doubting that currently there is more money within the movie industry than ever before. So which actors and actresses have profited the most from the huge amounts of increased revenue within the industry?

Robert Downey Junior

The Iron Man actor claimed a staggering $80 million dollars for his role in the latest Captain America film. The film saw huge critical acclaim as well as getting extremely positive reviews from fans alike. But with a box office success of over $1 billion Downey Junior was able to take home $30 million dollars more than the highest paid female star.

Adam Sandler

The Happy Madison boy has been extremely smart with his movie production over the last few years. Sandler signed a deal worth $200 million dollars with Netflix, in order to produce four films. He has currently done two, which have had varied success. However, that has not prevented the Happy Gilmore star from pocketing $50 million dollars per film.

Ben Affleck

Although it was panned by critics, Batman Vs Superman brought in nearly $1 billion dollars world wide. Affleck was able to take home a staggering $43 million dollars for his role as the caped crusader, it was his biggest ever box office hit. With the JusticeLeague still yet to come, his salary could get a whole lot higher.

Jennifer Lawrence

There is no doubting that the Hunger Games star has had a huge rise to stardom. Becoming an Oscar winner at the tender age of 22, Lawrence has risen to become the world’s biggest female actress. She earned an astonishing $43 million dollars for her part in the latest Hunger Games film, which came out earlier in 2016.

Vin Diesel

With another instalment of Fast and Furious Diesel was able to take home another $35 million dollars for his role in the action hit. With the tragic passing of Paul Walker, the film was always going to be a hit and Diesel was able to take home big bucks in the eight instalment for this franchise.

Melissa McCarthy

McCarthy really made her break through with Bridesmaids putting in one of the top performances in the film. She has since gone on to be a top star and was most recently part of the huge Ghostbsuters reboot. McCarthy reportedly earned a massive $25.6 million dollars for her role, making her the second highest paid actress behind Jennifer Lawrence.
