Game Of Thrones: Blood Of My Blood

Beware the dark corners of the internet. This review does indeed have spoilers! After the heart wrenching episode last time around it was always going to be difficult for the writers to follow it up! But they boy did they manage to do a half descent job of it! Game Of Thrones got wrenched up another gear once more! Things are starting to get as tense as a European Championship penalty shootout.

Stark’s

Blood of my Blood saw our second Stark reunion in just two episodes. Normally it takes at least a series and a half for that to happen, so we should feel a little privileged. This time it was Benjen and Bran doing the reuniting. As little Brandon and Meera fled from the Wights we were given little hope, considering that Bran is being dragged! But they were rescued by a hooded man, who carried a flame wielding mace – If you thought Ned Stark was badass, you should see his brother! The reunion nonetheless was key to the storyline and got the plot moving quickly. Bran had an all mighty flash back, as we got a first glimpse of the mad king. Maybe there is more to the ‘Hodor’ sequence than meets the eye. Next up was Arya who decided to go with mercy and not carry out her assignment given to her by the Faceless Men. Arya has never really been ‘no one.’ The last we saw of her, she was getting out little Needle as she prepared to defend herself against….. Oh just some assassins you can’t even recognise!

Tarly’s

Sam’s reunion with his family felt more like a soap opera played out in Shakesperian times, than the happy ending it should have been. It was like, boy bring scrappy girl back to posh parents. It was never going to end well with big old dad, Randyll Tarly hating wildlings. But Sam did get himself a victory in a small way. He robbed off with the big Valyrian steel sword, before ditching Horn Hill in the night!

Lannisters/Tyrells

Why is it that all Lannister bastard kings are idiots? Poor old Tomnen, he just doesn’t know what to do. He was swayed by the words of the High Sparrow has both the Crown and the Faith united as one to help govern the people of the city. Margaery effectively was able to blag her way out of the walk of shame. For Cersei and Jamie, it meant they had lost. Jamie was subsequently banished and sent off to help good old Walder Frey attempt to retake Riverrun from the Black Fish. I wonder how that one will go……

Targaryen

Not a lot happened for the ‘Mother of Dragons, breaker of chains, first of her……….’ We get the gist! Instead of picking three blood riders, which is what all Khal’s are meant to do, Daenerys instead chose the whole army. She made quite an impression as she climbed atop the mighty Drogon, (who has doubled in size) before giving yet another inspirational speech.
Highlights

In comes Uncle Benjen to the rescue!

Arya is still a Stark at heart

Best Quote - "I'm angry that horrible people can treat good people that way and get away with it." - Gilly, who clearly has not been watching the show.
