Is the name of Harry Potter carrying Daniel Radcliffe? In this adaptation of Susan Hill's supernatural thriller Radcliffe seemed blank with no emotion, in a film which sent shivers down my spine and had me clutching onto the arm rest.
The plot suits a perfect ghost story, an old dusty mansion cut off from the world, an innocent lawyer, terrorised village folk, and a haunting woman in black! James Watkins engaging direction style has you watching through your fingertips throughout the film as the turn of every corridor has you jumping on the edge of your seat. For me though Radcliffe hasn't done his acting career any favours, it felt like he was on a first date trying too hard to impress.
My Rating: 7/10 (Daniel Radcliffe's acting doesn't influence the rating)
Directors: James Watkins Cast: Ciaran Hinds, Daniel Radcliffe, Janet McTeer, Roger Allam, Shaun Dooley, Sophie Stuckey
